1 Gigabit Ultra Google Speed Internet Coming To Kansas City!

Major news in Kansas City. The elephant is in motion.

A multitude of questions will be followed with a multitude of solutions.

What are your questions? What Solutions do you see? Will this affect you personally? When will 1 gigabit internet service be available in your city? How will the local cable company respond? With another bundle? If video (MTV) killed the radio star, then what will be the fallout from ultra high speed internet? Who will be the survivors?

Open for discussion.

Below is the actual public announcement.

Is That Thunder I Hear In The Distance?

Or is it the beginning of a stampede ….. a stampede of elephants, that is.

Late last year, Intel announced in Computerworld it’s plan to advance computer control  technology to a new level by 2020 A.D. …. by implanting computer control chips in the human brain. Thus GUI (Graphic User Interphase) would be found in places like the Smithsonian (virtual) Museum being studied by technology students and scholars ….. and WYSIWYG would be moved to the category of prophetic. For those who do not know or remember what WYSIWYG is, I am sure that information about this term can be found in Wikipedia which has been working on aggregating the collective human intellect. And if Intel is successful in achieving it’s goal by 2020, … and if you are one of those sporting this implanted technology in your brain, … then you will not have to type “www.wikipedia.org” or “WYSIWYG” on your keyboard anymore …… because what you will see is what you will get.

But for now, just follow this link and listen to the roar in the distance yourself! Hear the distant thunder! What is it that you hear and what do you see in the future?

Genesis 11:6-7 … (God speaking)

“Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!  Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.”

Shhhh! There Are Three Elephants In The Room!

News reports this past week have media and tech giants Sony, Google, and Intel collaborating on an interesting project: Google TV. The wrappers are expected to come off in the next few months, so this project is almost ready for delivery to the public.

After first hearing this news, my immediate response was that this story was big …. so big, in fact, that I decided to wait and see how it plays out in the traditional media. Three elephants in a room …. how would the traditional television media handle this news? What are the ramifications of this collaboration? How do the ads on my computer always know my age? …. is this type of customized, targeted advertising delivery ready for “prime time”? Can the Madison Avenue advertising industry survive “real” numbers …. as opposed to “potential viewership” numbers?

Today I received a very nice catalog in the mail from Sony Electronics. 30 plus pages that promote 3 basic consumer product lines: Video cameras, computers, and televisions. And the big surprise…. the media brandings that were being promoted within the pages of the catalog were not CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, etc. Instead, they were promoting that their product be used with facebook, YouTube, Netflix, accuweather.com, nytimes.com, and Crackle ….Is this change of media providers due to a shift in consumer preferences? …. or was this advertising specifically targeted to me?

For media history buffs, do you remember when all things radio and television were developed and controlled by an alliance of GE, RCA, and NBC? Well…. this is bigger.

There are three elephants in my living room ….. this could be interesting.

Of The Sanhedrin, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter

Over a year ago I discovered a YouTube channel that was interesting ….. a channel that appeared to be The Sanhedrin’s. Couldn’t tell you for sure if it was official or not ….. but it was interesting none-the-less….. so I subscribed.

Here is a video from that not-so-active channel.

Today I went back to check-in on this channel and decided to see if I could figure out if it was “official” or not.

Upon closer examination, I discovered from the YouTube  statstics attached to this video that it had been viewed 9 times since it was first embedded on http://www.TheSanhedrin.org! Below are those YouTube stats:

The Colca Canyon

In 1978 I read an article, I believe it was in The Wall Street Journal, about the Colca Canyon in Peru. It was reported to be the deepest canyon in the world, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon. I remember that the 1978 newspaper report compared the Grand Canyon and the Colca Canyon by a graphic description of how many World Trade Centers deep each was. The only other published information that I could find on the Colca Canyon was a reference to an article in a 1937 or 1938 issue of National Geographic. So, I ordered a back copy (they still had one!). Now I am paying storage for that issue! From time to time over the years I have wanted to explore the Colca Canyon……. but I have only explored how to go about such an adventure. The place was simply not easily accessible. I looked into helicopters, explored hiring a local guide, and explored a raft ride. So much for exploration……. Today I explored the Colca Canyon, this time on the internet. My, how things have changed! The endangered, prehistoric appearing Condor is still endangered, and is still living there. Forget the helicopter…… you can buy a tour package! A McDonalds can’t be far into the Condor’s future. AND…… it turns out that the Colca Canyon is NOT the world’s deepest canyon. Imagine! The new adventure is ……the Cotahuasi Canyon.
