The Tower Of Babel Revisited

The Tower Of Babel – Genisis Chapter 11

“At this time the whole world spoke one language, and everyone used the same words. As people moved from the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there.

They said to each other, ‘Let’s make bricks and bake them to make them hard.’ So they used bricks instead of stones, and tar instead of mortar. Then they said to each other, ‘Let’s build a city and a tower for ourselves, whose top will reach high into the sky. We will become famous. Then we will not be scattered over all the earth.’

The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the people had built. The Lord said, ‘Now, these people are united, all speaking the same language. This is only the beginning of what they will do. They will be able to do anything they want. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not be able to understand each other.

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. The place is called Babel since that is where the Lord confused the language of the whole world. So the Lord caused them to spread out from there over the whole world.”

The Tower Of Babel 2009

The Burj Dubai tower in the Gulf emirate of Dubai

The Burj Dubai Tower, whose ultimate heighth has not been announced, is currently the tallest structure in the world. Scheduled to be completed in 2009, this skyscraper currently stands at 160 stories. Having surpassed the 2,063 foot KVLY-TV mast in the United States last April, there is speculation that the ultimate heighth may reach 900 meters, or 2953 feet, or a bit more than 1/2 mile. The World Trade Center, by comparison, was 1727 feet tall …… about 1/3 of a mile.

What Is Next In Tower Building?

The Mile High Skyscraper

According to Forbes, it seems as if Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud is planning to build the world’s tallest building, a mile-high tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. So, where will this all end? Is there no end to what man can do?

It is amazing how far mankind has progressed. Soon the large hadron collider will be switched on in search of what many call a “God Particle”. The science behind this experiment is incredible!

There is a few theories floating around with regards to the modern tower of babel. One I find very interesting is the European Union building in Strasbourg which was designed to look like the unfinished tower. Here is a clip from Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY7MLWrMBQ8 it’s a little political but it gets the idea across.

Love the work you guys are doing and may God continue to bless your ministry.
